Philip Augustine Herbert LCSW, CSW

I am a psychoanalyst by training, interested in resolving the causes of symptoms. Psychoanalysis is unique among therapies in that it not only seeks to alleviate psychic and emotional pain, but opens us to our own unique interiority so that we are able to live more meaningful and fulfilling lives. I have been a practicing therapist for thirty years, working psychodynamically and utilizing advanced training in psychoanalysis. My specialty is working with individuals suffering from Trauma, Depression and Anxiety. I am licensed in New York and New Jersey. I have offices in Fort Lee, and Wayne.

The goal of psychoanalytic treatment is to help people to become mature, well-functioning human beings, enlivened by a renewed sense of their own individual path in life. I offer individuals an opportunity to reflect in a safe relationship of self discovery in which they can gain insight and work though their emotional conflicts to achieve resolution. Good therapy requires skills developed through hard work and experience, intelligence, wisdom, and humility as well as tremendous care, compassion and empathy.

Clients feel safe with me and get well. I have tremendous empathy and respect for your need to develop your own process of inquiry and reflection.
